Metadata and Collaborate¶
The sharing of Data in Collaborate is controlled by the User Role Matrix. You can create as many different user roles with different rights/permissions as you need to manage and control the various Collaborations you will be running. However, you can at any time change the user role and corresponding user rights for any or all users of an ongoing collaboration.
Under the Account Settings you will find the User Roles Matrix:
When sharing a project with Metadata in Collaborate you basically have four (4) options:

- You can choose to not share metadata with your collaborating partner.

- You can choose to share your metadata with a View Only user role.

- You can choose to share your metadata with a Edit user role.

- You can choose either option 2 or 3 above only with Metadata that has a specific Sharing Tag in their definition.
Option 1: No Sharing of Metadata¶
Metadata will NOT be shared or visible for your collaboration partner, either in the Project View properties panel or in the viewport metadata info dialog boxes.

Option 2: Sharing a project with metadata definitions and values as View only¶
With View Only all metadata will be visible for your collaborating partner. If they click any asset or connection the metadata value will be displayed but as read-only.

Option 3: Sharing a project with metadata definitions and values with Edit rights¶
With Edit rights all metadata will be visible for your collaborating partner, and they can also modify your metadata values based on your own definitions.

Option 4: Sharing a project with metadata definitions and values Filtering on Tags¶
By using this feature, you can control exactly which metadata definitions should be shared both in View Only and Edit Mode. This Tag can be set in the metadata definition screen, and then you just select the tag during the creation of the user role.

Metadata Mapping¶
You can now display the Collaboration Tenants Metadata and allow for mapping between metadata as shown below:
In the Metadata Local tab you can then map the values.
